Y-12 Opens Two New Buildings
July 10, 2007

Oak Ridge, Anderson County  - Y-12 is marking a new era with the dedication of two new facilities.

Tuesday morning, state leaders and administrators came together to cut ribbons on the New Hope and Jack Case centers.

The 137,000 square foot New Hope Center will contain office space for 300 people, a visitor's center and public exhibit center.

The three story, 410,000 square foot Jack Case Center will house office space, a new cafeteria, as well as lab space and conference space.

"Both outside the fence and inside the fence, a major transformation is underway and Y-12 is the premier national security complex, frankly, throughout the NNSA and the weapons complex,” says Congressman Zach Wamp.

The new buildings were built with more than $150 million in private sector financing.

About one third of Y-12's employees will move into the new buildings.
