About Bradley County

Bradley County is located in the southeastern corner of the state, bordered on the south by the state of Georgia and on the north by the Hiwassee River. The county's terrain is almost totally mountainous.

Established in 1836, Bradley County was named in honor of Colonel Edward Bradley, of Shelby County. He was a colonel of Hale's regiment and later, in the War of 1812, colonel of the 15th Regiment of Tennessee Volunteers.

The county seat of government is located in Cleveland. Points of interest include Red Clay Council Ground State Historic Area and a number of Wildlife Management Areas in the county. Bradley County was formed from Indian lands.
